Pumpkin Candle Holders Tutorial!

It is time to get into the Halloween spirit!  I made these last year, but some how they did not end up on the blog... so hooray for me this year when I needed a post! :) These are great for your halloween mantel!
Here is a SUPER easy craft to get in the halloween spirit!

Here is what you will need:
Candle holders (I made mine from a candle holder and a candle stick from the dollar store)
DecoArt's Crystal Gloss Enamels
DecoArt's 3D Gloss Enamels

1. I didn't have orange paint... but I had yellow and red so I mixed them!

2. I painted the orange gloss enamels paint using a brush.  I wanted my strokes to look like the lines on the pumpkin.  Let dry.

I printed off some pumpkin faces and taped it to the inside the candle holder.  I used my 3D Gloss Enamel's black paint to trace over the face.  You can find pumpkin faces by googling "pumpkin face templates"

Let the paint dry for 48 hours and then cook at 200 degrees for 30 min. in an un-preheated oven.  Let cool with the oven door open.

Once the paint is dry you can light a candle!

Big Paper Pinwheel Flowers

Here is a fun and easy way to dress up your room or party!

Here is what you need:
Decorative Paper from CanvasCorp
Adhesive Cork stock from CanvasCorp
Twine from CanvasCorp
Decorative Clothespins from CanvasCorp
Glue Gun
Stapler
Paper cutter/Scissors
{ignore the thread!}

1. Cut your paper in to four 6X12 inch strips... I used two 12X12 Papers for one large flower

2. Take one strip and accordion fold it all the way across.  My folds were about about an inch wide.
Repeat for all 4 strips

3. Staple your strips together to make one long folded strip

4. Staples the ends together to make a circle

5. Use something round and trace a circle on the back of your cork stock.  Cut out the circle and use your hot glue gun and put hot glues all around the outside of the circle.

6. Push down the center of your circle to make the flower.  Glue your cork stock to the center and wait for the glue to cool and flip it over

7.  run your twine through the clothespin and tie it to make a loop.

8. Hang it from a tack or nail

9. {optional} make more and hang them up together!

Circle wall art

Here is a unique piece of wall art sure to liven up any room!

I made it with fabric and Styrofoam discs!  It is SUPER light and SUPER cool!

Here is how what you will need to make your own:
Styrofoam discs in varying sizes (I used 8 of them) from Dow
DecoArt Decoupaged
Gorilla glue
Gorilla Tape (not pictured)
Stapler
Scissors (not pictured)
Fabric
yard stick (for hanging... not pictured)

Cut out a square of fabric a couple inched bigger then your circle on each side.  Then round one corner .

Fold in half and cut the other corner... fold in half again and cut the remain two corners.

Fold in half to make a triangle and make sure all the cuts are even... if not even them up.  Open up and now you should have a circle.

Cut slits about in inch all around the fabric.

Cover one side of the strofoam disc with Decoupaged.

Face the Decoupaged side down in the middle of your fabric.

Use a brush to paint Decoupaged onto the fabric and fold the slits up onto the disc over lapping them as you go around the circle.

Use your stapler to help keep the fabric in place.  Once you have made it all the way around, cover the top of the strips with the Decoupaged.   Let dry for at least an hour.

Flip it over  and you are done... repeat for as many discs are you are using.

Once all your discs are covered, work on arranging them how you want them to look.

I used Gorilla glue to stick all the circles together.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up.  You want to make sure to cover a large amount with the glue... I had to go back and add some glue to mine to make it hold better.

I used plates to act a weights to keep the discs in place while the glue dried... books would work too.  I was in the kitchen so I grabbed plates! :)   Let the glue dry over night.

Here how I decided to hang it up.
I used gorilla tape and taped a yard stick to the back.  This helped keep everything straight.  I used a large head nail to hang it up on the yard stick.  It is very light so it does not take much to keep it up!

I am so in love with it!
